Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum Chooses Megaman’s Energy Saving Solutions
Megaman UK’s LED PAR 30 dimming lamps have been chosen to replace existing 75W lamps at Ripley’s Believe it or Not! in Piccadilly Circus, London. The simple exchange of lamps has made significant cost reductions with a reported annual saving of over £10,000 per annum.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not! is home to over 700 peculiar and interactive exhibits at No 1 Piccadilly Circus and is classed as one of the most extraordinary things to do in London. At Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London visitors can marvel at an unbelievable collection of jaw dropping artefacts from across the globe – many of which were collected by the ultimate explorer Robert Ripley himself. With galleries and interactive experiences spanning across 6 floors, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London celebrates the weird, wonderful and bizarre in all its forms, including the world’s tallest man, a rare collection of Amazonian shrunken heads and Ripley’s Marvellous Mirror Maze.
With a large number of spotlights throughout the 6 floor museum to highlight the curios on display, the existing 75W PAR 30 lamps were emitting excessive heat which created an over-heated environment for staff and visitors alike. Other problems included short lamp life and the inability to dim the lights as and when required. Following conversation and assessment by local wholesaler City Electrical Factors (CEF), West End, it was recommended that the lamps be retrofitted with Megaman’s 12W LED PAR 30 lamps which offer 2800k colour temperature, 30° beam and 50,000 hours lamp life.
