Megaman’s 15W AR111 LED lamps have been chosen for the lighting refurbishment of Novotel Cardiff’s conference facilities, as part of the hotel chains ongoing energy saving campaign. The 4-star Novotel, part of the Accor Group is situated close to the Millennium Stadium and is within walking distance of shopping and entertainment facilities in Cardiff Bay. The 138 room hotel also has leisure facilities and nine flexible conference/meeting spaces.
The conference rooms are in constant use and the existing 50W Halogen lamps were creating very hot and uncomfortable areas for delegates. Following an initial survey of the existing lighting by Barry based Corona Lighting, it was agreed that trials should be undertaken with a variety of energy saving lamps that were suitable for retrofitting into the existing fittings. Megaman’s 15W AR111 LEDs were the preferred choice as they offered excellent light output without the excessive heat of the original halogen lamps.
The Megaman lamps have been incorporated in existing fittings to replace the existing halogen and filament lamps and provide a longer lamp life whilst reducing maintenance time and conversion costs. As the lamps offered a direct replacement, the installation could be carried out quickly and with minimum fuss as there was no additional ceiling work or replacement luminaires, thus keeping disruption to the minimum.
The Megaman AR111 LED offers a direct replacement for halogen spotlights in terms of both colour temperature and intensity without heat generation whilst also providing up to 80% energy saving. With a large reflector and miniaturized burner, the AR111 LED provides remarkable performance levels with its narrow beam optic, in addition to with excellent optical control. With its anti-glare shield and glittering facetted mirror, it achieves pinpoint accuracy from a 45ş beam angle and the lightweight heat sink ensures that track spots won't tilt.
