Megaman has released Dino 2, a new and improved range of weatherproof & corrosion free integrated LED battens. An ideal and highly efficient LED replacement for traditional indoor and outdoor linear fluorescent T5 and T8 sealed battens, these IP66 rated and robust luminaires now feature an additional through wire to allow a permanent live feed for control sensors and non-maintained emergency luminaires. This not only makes it much more straightforward to install sensors but also makes it easier to ensure that an installation meets the necessary emergency regulations.
Available in both clear and opal diffuser versions with a colour temperature of 4000K, Dino 2 battens come in 3 different lengths equivalent to traditional 2ft,4ft & 5ft battens, there are 5 different lumen packages delivering up to 104 lumens per watt. The two longer lengths have higher output versions for similar output to an old-style twin tube fitting. Dino 2 battens also offer low maintenance costs with a service life of 50,000 hours to L70.
Dino 2 is an improvement on the original Dino as it has the additional option of a permanent live to facilitate the use of control sensors and non-maintained emergency fittings. This major advantage allows for the easy installation of features such as ‘corridor’ lighting in car parks to highlight walkways and for the use of non-maintained emergency luminaires alongside the Dino 2 battens. This offers more flexibility to contractors when specifying the system.
For the control sensor MEGAMAN® also offer their Passive Infra-Red (PIR) Sensor module, which is available to serve as a master device for up to eight luminaires and has a 120° detection range with an easy to use on/off control.
Easy to install, Dino 2 battens feature sliding stainless steel clips, which mean existing mounting holes can be used - simply by screwing them in and clipping the batten into place. There are tool free terminal blocks and covers, plus the cable entries and through wiring ensures that cables can be wired from one fixture to another, helping to make Dino 2 an ideal solution for car parks, warehouses and underground areas. The battens have a tough polycarbonate body and are IK08 impact resistant meaning there is less risk of damage when installed in areas susceptible to vandalism.
Glen Krise, European Distribution Director at Megaman commented: “The Dino 2 LED batten is a natural advancement on our existing Dino range. With an improved lumen distribution package, due to its clear prismatic diffuser and suitability to Part L Building compliance the Dino 2 offers the high quality, low-energy lighting solutions that traditional battens cannot achieve.”
