Environmental Policy

BUILDING A BETTER TOMORROW
Our approach:-
- Implement pollution-free processes in product design and manufacturing
- Use renewable or recyclable materials to minimize use of resources and energy
- Comply with environmental legislations and industry codes of practices
- Promote sense of environmental protection among staff and business partners
- Our approach to product design is to make our products more environmentally efficient through a "Design for Environment" program covering material use, packaging and recycling. It minimizes material and energy consumption and maximizes the possibility for reuse and recycling. We have been successful in reducing the weight and size of our products and packaging to save transportation costs. We have also reduced pollution with the use of water-based adhesive, replacement of traditional frosting methods with the silicone sleeve, and recycling glass tubes and mercury contents.

RoHS Compliance Policy
The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive will come into force on 1 July 2006. The Directive aims to protect human health and the environment by restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in new equipment and complement the WEEE Directive.
From 1 July 2006, the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) is restricted in new electrical and electronic equipment. This law will also apply to electric light bulbs and light fittings in households.
MEGAMAN® started preparation for RoHS compliance in the early months of 2004. Continuous improvements to advance the eco-friendly attributes of the products became the company's chief priority. This also co-incided with the company's philosophy. All this laid a basis for the company to manufacture and distribute RoHS compliant products in 2005. MEGAMAN® proudly introduced the World's first RoHS compliant energy saving lamp "LILIPUT PLUS" in April 2005.
To further enhance the "greenness" of our lamps, we have also adopted lead-free glass tubes and low mercury levels of 3mg. Our aim is to create the world's most eco-friendliest energy-saving lamps.
MEGAMAN® is also working closely with business partners to ensure that our products and manufacturing processes meet their 'Green' requirements and environmental standards. Some of these activities include:
- Restricting the use of hazardous materials banned by EU directives
- Procurement specifications requiring suppliers to conform to RoHS guidelines and provide data verifying their conformance
- Conducting conclusive inspections before products are delivered to customers to ensure conformance to RoHS legislations
- Conducting seminars and training sessions to ensure that the company's employees and suppliers recognize the importance of the legislations.

MEGAMAN®'s philosophy is to contribute towards the betterment of mankind by placing environmental protection at top priority. MEGAMAN® endeavors to actively pursue measures that foster a cleaner and greener environment by providing eco-friendly, quality products.
